Flow Seasonal Color Analysis Do You Know Your Best Colors?

See the difference?

seasonal color analysis best and worst

The blue t-shirt "wears the woman", in the photo on the left, making it hard to see her face. By contrast, in the photo on the right you notice the woman rather than the color of her clothes (except, maybe, to note that the whole look is harmonious).

The wrong colors can make you look older, heavier, tired and even ill (of course you could use this to your advantage if you wanted to take a sickie!). The wrong colors also often wear you, so that people see your clothes before they see you (a friend might say “that color shirt is great”).

Not only do the correct colors for you make you look healthier, younger, slimmer and brighter. They also make you feel healthier, younger, slimmer and brighter. Now your friends say "you look great". Color also affects our mood and emotions, our perceived body shape and the overall impression we make on others. So why would you wear anything other than the colors that suit you best?

What is Seasonal Color Analysis?

Seasonal color analysis categorizes people into one of 4 categories...

  1. Winter
  2. Summer
  3. Autumn, and
  4. Spring

The categories are named after the seasons and the colors found together in nature to help you remember the range of colors they include. Your seasonal color range will complement the coloring of your skin, hair and eyes.

Understanding Color

Understanding a few characteristics of color will help you understand your own coloring and help you make more informed color choices when you buy clothes. Attributes of color include it’s…

  • Hue --this is the name of the color

  • Temperature --a color can be perceived as cool, warm or neutral. Yellow based colors are perceived as warm, while blue based colors are perceived as cool. Pure colors are neutral—that is neither cool nor warm

  • Value --a color can be described as light, medium-light, medium, medium-dark, dark

  • Intensity —-whether the color appears clear or muted

Your main seasonal color has these attributes and so do clothing colors. When you know your flow season, to determine if an item of clothing is the correct color for you look for colors with attributes that most closely match your seasonal colors’ attributes. Keeping this in mind helps if you’ve forgotten your swatch or the exact color isn't in your swatch.

Seasonal Colors

Winter colors are cool, clear and dark to light intensity. Think of the winter landscape colors. In the low light of winter colors appear darker, but on a bright day with the sun reflecting off snow colors appear pale and icy.

Summer colors are also cool, but muted and medium-light to medium-dark in value. Think of seeing the landscape through a summer heat haze. The colors are muted, paler versions of Winter’s. The light colors are creamy pastel rather than icy.

seasonal color analysis autumn

Autumn colors are warm, muted and medium-light to medium-dark intensity. Think of fall New England landscape colors of rich burnt oranges, reds, golden yellows and sludgy greens.

seasonal color analysis spring

Spring colors are also warm, but clear and bright with medium to light intensity. Think of the bright clear colors of spring flowers and the new season’s clear, bright green shoots.

Extending Seasonal Color Analysis
for More Color Choices

With the infinite variety of each unique person’s coloring some people don’t fit neatly into one season. So most Image Consultants now use a refined version of the original seasonal color analysis called flow seasonal color analysis.

Flow color analysis categorizes a person as one of 12 flow categories. It recognizes that a person may have coloring characteristics from more than one season. A person still has one primary season, but also has elements of another season—the flow season. The flow season color range takes this into account.

For example, a woman who has dark black-brown hair, dark brown eyes and an olive skin will be mainly Winter, but flow towards Autumn. She will be a Deep Winter. The Deep Winter swatch includes all the main Winter colors and some of the Autumn range such as olive and khaki to complement her skin.

Flow Seasonal Color Analysis

This diagram shows the 12 flow categories and their relationships to the seasonal categories. Flow names reflect the "look" of the flow...

  • Cool -- Winter or Summer with cool skin, hair and eyes

  • Warm -- Autumn or Spring with warm skin, hair and eyes

  • Clear -- Winter or Spring with stunning eyes. Many celebrities are Clears

  • Deep -- Winter or Autumn with dark hair and eyes and warm skin

  • Light -- Summer or Spring. Light skin, hair and eyes

  • Soft -- Summer or Autumn. Either velvety/chocolaty looking, "heavy" neutral looking or light neutral looking

How to Find Your Flow Season

Health And Fitness For Women

Health And Fitness Tips For Women
A slim and trim and well toned body is a delight not only to flaunt, but also to behold. Today, women all over the world aim at the zero size and hourglass waistlines. However, the fast paced lifestyles we lead and the demands made on our time, at work and at home, make it impossible to stay in shape and perfect physical and mental health without dedication and guidance.

The best tips for workout routines applicable to women include the following:

Develop a plan
Chalk out your daily chores and free time on hand and only then design a fitness regime to work out. This will ensure that your workout routine will be managed within the free time on hand and the quality of the regime will not be hampered due to any disturbances.
Consult your doctor

It is very important to consult the family doctor and confirm your fitness level to take on the regime intended. It will do you good to periodically check your blood pressure and pulse rate. You should ideally adopt a fitness routine only after consulting your doctor and trainer and considering all the options, pros and cons involved.

Stay motivated

If company helps to motivate you, exercise at the local gym. Remember that the body loses mobility and flexibility with every break in the regime. Identify a space, time and routine that will keep sedentary habits at bay and enable you to exercise regularly.

Remember to adopt warm up and cool down exercises

It helps to develop the routine, complete with warm up exercises prior to the main work out and cool down exercises post regime. Gentle flexing before and after helps a lot and keeps strain and injury away. The warm up exercises enable the body to gradually adapt to the postures required during the regime, while the cool down exercises help to relax the body after the regime, neck, shoulders and every body part involved in the work out.

There are many online and offline resources that help you to put great exercise regimes together and offer guidelines 24 hours a day. Also there are certain simple exercises that you can adopt and practice even as you handle your daily chores, like:

1. Standing with your feet apart and knees slightly bent and bending your torso to the right and left for a great stretch
2. Lying on your back and bending your knees and raising your legs to cross your ankles to tone stomach muscles with the controlled movement and breath
3. Going down on and straightening one leg out at a time
4. Striding forward one leg at a time, keeping your back straight and bending both knees till each one, in turn, nearly touches the floor
5. Holding a chair and in turn, turning your legs out slightly and then raising one at a time as high as you can
6. Lying on your back and raising your knees and lower legs so that they are parallel to the ground
7. Sitting on a stool and resting your forearms over your thighs as you lean forward and pick up a dumb bell weight with one hand at a time

The workout routines are many and it is important to first identify the kind or level of toning you desire before taking on an exercise regime. It is just as important to compliment the fitness regime with a well balance diet. You should also consider simple toning exercises for all round fitness and tone muscles that lose strength and appeal with age. These exercises also help you address problems such as sagging skin and droopy posture.
Remember there are many experts who make themselves physically available or guide you online or offline, either free or for a reasonable fee.

How To Walk in High Heels

Though many of us love high heels, others don't wear them very often. Some are intimidated by high heels, while others have just never had the occasion to wear high heels.

Either way, when a "high heel occasion" rears its ugly head, many will stay home with their trusted friend, the sneaker. If fear is keeping you out of the high heels you covet, set your phobias aside! Walking in high heels is not that difficult, and with a bit of practice, you'll stepping out in high heels in no time.

Here's How:

  1. First practice just standing in high heels. In front of a full length mirror, stand for a while, then turn slightly to each side. Not only will you be able to check your posture and profile, but the act of merely standing in high heels will help remove some of your apprehension, and let you get accustomed to the added height of the heel.

  2. Take a few steps in your high heels. If possible, do this at first on a hard floor (not too slick), or in a room with low carpeting, as really thick or padded carpeting can throw off your balance.

  3. As you walk in high heels, remember to keep your legs straight and as close together as possible. With each step, point your feet as straight in front of you as you can. Start off with slow, determined steps at first, being extra conscientious of each step. As you build confidence and experience walking in high heels, it will become much more natural.

  4. Continue walking back and forth across the room, turning different directions, and stopping without wobbling on your high heels. Once you're comfortable with this, try the same thing on different floor surfaces, and remember to start off slowly with each one.

  5. When it comes to actually walking comfortably, practice, practice, practice. If you haven't ever worn high heels, or you are already comfortable in high heels, this sounds silly. But trust me, the first time you put them on, you'll see what I mean. Wearing high heels is a totally different walking experience, and if you take it for granted, you'll not only end up with sore feet, but possibly an injury. And, if you have a bad experience first time out, you'll be doomed to flats forever.

  6. As you grow more confident in your abilities to walk, turn, and do all the other things you might need to do in high heels, you can move up to the height of shoe you'll be wearing on the day or night of your event - but remember to start slowly with each bit of added height. Jumping from two inch heels to four inch heels probably will not be quite as disorienting as your first step in any high heels, but it still will require patience and practice.

  7. When wearing high heels on a staircase, always use the rail if it is available, or at least be close enough to a rail that you can reach it if you need to. When climbing steps, your entire shoe heel and sole should land firmly at once on each step.

  8. If you know you'll be slow dancing in your high heels, you should practice side-to-side stepping, as well as turning slowing in your high heels before actually hitting the dance floor.
