Some Wedding Do’s and Don’ts for the GROOM on the big day!

There are so many little things to remember on the day but given that most of your wedding is pre-planned, pre-booked and organised, I’ll give you a few tips for the day itself to help to ensure your day goes smoothly.

Although your Wedding Day is one of the most important and memorable days of your lives, remember that it’s all about the bride! It is her day! So do everything you can to make her day extra special, romantic and unforgettable! Make sure you tell her how beautiful she looks and how gorgeous her dress is!

Once you’ve made it through the ceremony… and your vows, your next public speech will probably be your toast at the reception… Many grooms are SO nervous about giving their wedding speech, so a few points to remember would be:

  • First and foremost: NEVER give a drunken speech! Nothing worse than listening to a sentence turn into a slur!
  • Then, just keep it short and to the point – your guests want to get on with the celebration!
  • But of course don’t forget to thank your guests, your families for their love and support and most importantly your beautiful bride!

Other handy tips:

  • Don’t forget to make sure the best man has the rings!

  • Don’t be late to the ceremony, get there at least 15 mins before the wedding is due to start. Traditionally, it’s the bride’s job to keep you waiting at the altar for a little while…

  • Take an umbrella, shade or shelter – you never know with Melbourne weather

  • Take the esky along when you’re having your photos done – you’ll need refreshments & snacks!

  • A spare shirt is always good, depending on the elements; you might need to freshen up before the reception.

  • The most important thing to remember is that your Wedding Day is supposed to be fun, the little details don’t always go to plan, so the important thing is to just enjoy yourselves!
